Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Acceptance

By connecting your wallet to AEGIS or installing the AEGIS browser extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What AEGIS is

AEGIS is a decentralized proxy network. Your traffic is routed through exit nodes operated by independent third parties. AEGIS provides the routing protocol and payment layer — it does not operate the exit nodes and has no visibility into your traffic content or destinations.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use AEGIS to:

  • Access, transmit, or distribute illegal content under applicable law.
  • Conduct denial-of-service attacks, port scans, or network abuse.
  • Circumvent sanctions or export controls.
  • Scrape, spam, or abuse third-party services at scale.
  • Engage in any activity that violates the rights of others.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these rules. Because AEGIS is decentralized, enforcement is limited to the account layer (wallet and balance) — we cannot block traffic at the network level.

4. Payments and balances

AEGIS uses USDC on Solana for all payments. Balances are non-refundable except in cases of verified service outages caused by AEGIS infrastructure (not exit node downtime). All payments are final once settled on-chain.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 7 days notice published at aegisprivacy.org.

5. Node operators

If you register an exit node, you are responsible for ensuring your server complies with your jurisdiction's laws regarding proxy and relay services. AEGIS is not liable for how third parties use traffic routed through your node. You agree to maintain reasonable uptime and not manipulate traffic.

6. No warranty

AEGIS is provided "as is." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding uptime, anonymity guarantees, or fitness for any particular purpose. Exit nodes are operated by independent parties we do not control. Use AEGIS as one layer of a defense-in-depth strategy, not as a sole privacy solution.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AEGIS and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, de-anonymization, or financial loss. Our total liability in any case is limited to the USDC balance credited to your account at the time of the claim.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle your data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be announced at aegisprivacy.org. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
